2021 Cerbaiona Brunello di Montalcino
The 2021 Brunello, bottled by Cerbaiona in April 2024, is a wine of exceptional quality that expresses the full ripeness of the grapes and polyphenols, with a fine, taut, and balanced texture. Five years after harvest, the wine confirms not only its harmony and elegance but also the depth of its structure.
Thanks to this balance, it can be enjoyed right now; however, due to its tension, vigor, purity, and precision, it promises to reveal even greater complexity in the years to come.
More than any vintage that preceded it, and those that followed, 2021—alongside 2016—represents the “great vintage” of Brunello for the decade. For Cerbaiona, 2021 holds a special significance. It is, in fact, the first Brunello produced with grapes from vineyards replanted in 2017, following a careful selection of clones and rootstocks and meticulous soil preparation prior to planting.
One hectare of vineyard was added to the three already in place, on the highest and steepest part of the hill: the grapes from this new plot have proven to be of excellent quality.
All the new vineyards are trained using the alberello method, a cultivation technique that requires precision work akin to tailoring.
In 2021, Cerbaiona also began winemaking in its new, custom-built winery, where a close-knit team of winemakers is at work. Here, the work is carried out with meticulous care, aided by state-of-the-art equipment and a fully equipped on-site laboratory: a true workshop of wine.
