Toscana Indicazione Geografica Tipica
The historic wine, produced from 1971 to 1981 as Chianti Classico Montevertine and since 1982, when the company left the Chianti Classico Consortium, simply as Montevertine. Made from selected Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino grapes, it matures for two years in Slavonian and Allier oak barrels.
Grapes: Sangiovese 90%, Canaiolo 5%, Colorino 5%.
Yield: wine/ha hl 35
Vinification: alcoholic fermentation in cement vats for about 21 days,
malolactic fermentation in cement vats.
Ageing: 24 months in Slavonian oak casks, then at least 3 months in bottle.
Serving temperature: 17-18°.
Recommended pairings: Red meat, game, cheese
