Rosso di Montalcino DOC
produced with grapes from organic agriculture
Grape: 100% Sangiovese
Harvest: the slightly late harvest of these grapes results in a very fruity wine with significant body. The grapes are harvested by hand.
Vinification: in the cantina, after a light pressing of the bunches, fermentation takes place for 25 days in steel vats at controlled temperatures, where the wine is subject to periodic pumping up and dèlastage.
Aging: the wine, with light sediment, is aged in small barrels of 225 and 500 litres to reach an optimum equilibrium. Before being made available for consumption it is allowed to age in the bottle.
Characteristics: fresh aromas of ripe cherries, with pleasant woody undertones. It is balanced and elegant to the taste, soft, with good body.
Combinations: Sanlorenzo Rosso di Montalcino goes very well with all red meat and cheese dishes.
The red wine Rosso di Montalcino Doc Sanlorenzo comes from the youngest vineyard on the farm, which opens like an amphitheatre towards the Orcia River valley and the sea.
The land is generally clayey and rocky, and the special microclimate at over 500 meters above sea level gives the Sangiovese Grosso cultivated in these vineyards an especially delicate flavour.
Vinified in steel vats at controlled temperatures, this wine is then aged in wooden barrels of various sizes to reach an optimum equilibrium.
Sixteen months of work in the cantina is completed with a final aging in the bottle, to bring to the glass a wine that is very fruity and delicate, but which has considerable body.
The fresh aromas of ripe cherries and the pleasant underlying traces of wood
make it balanced and elegant to the taste, and give it a distinguished flavour.
