BRAMANTE RISERVA Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G.

produced with grapes from organic agriculture

The Riserva di Brunello di Montalcino Bramante only comes in exceptional years from a selection of the best grapes.

Aged for more than three years in medium-sized wooden casks, it is bottled in its fourth year and left to rest in the bottle until the January of the sixth year after it is harvested.

Description of the year 2019

The 2019 vintage was exceptional in terms of both quantity and quality. A generally rainy winter was followed by a warm, dry March and April, during which the vines budded well and grew rapidly. May was very rainy and the vines’ growth slowed down, but June saw a marked change in the weather, with two dry, warm months. Consequently, the grapes developed well and at the right pace; veraison began in the first few days of August and was complete by the end of the month. The weather in September—warm but not excessively so, with some rain—contributed to good ripening, and the harvest took place on 5 and 6 October.

Grape: 100% Sangiovese

Harvest: the slightly late harvest of these grapes results in a very fruity wine with significant body. The grapes are harvested by hand.

Vinification: in the cantina, after a light pressing of the bunches, fermentation takes place for 25 days in steel vats at controlled temperatures, where the wine is subject to periodic pumping up and dèlastage.

Aging: the wine is refined together with the lees, in vats that have an average capacity of 10 hectolitres sothat an optimum equilibrium is achieved. Before being placed on the market the wine undergoes an ulterior 4-month refinement in the bottle.

Characteristics: dark garnet red, with a generous nose, it has aromas of dried flowers, spices, and ripe fruits. It finishes long.

Combinations: A very good accompaniment for game, beef, and seasoned pecorino cheese.
